The recovery cost guide

A guide to care, costs and better questions

# Recovery peptide treatment. What’s in the bill?

Hoping to get back to your usual life? Start with what the treatment is. Then find out what the price actually includes.

Before agreeing to a plan, ask for the medicine’s exact name and a written total for the care around it.

Use this guide to ask what your care would involve: the first visit, any tests, the medicine and later visits. Ask which of these steps the plan includes.

A little room to think it through.

## Before a price, get a name.

Think of a protein as a long chain of tiny parts. Those same tiny parts form a peptide when joined into a short chain.

Insulin is a peptide, too.

Calling something a “peptide” describes its structure, without settling a medicine’s safety or legal status (checked September 26, 2026).

First ask, “Which drug are we talking about, and what is it supposed to treat?” “Recovery” is a goal. It is not enough detail for a price comparison.

## “Is this real medical care?”

A fair place to start.

The agency overseeing medicines in the US is called the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Making medicine to suit a patient is called compounding; a pharmacist or doctor prepares it, as [the FDA explains](https://www.fda.gov/drugs/human-drug-compounding/compounding-and-fda-questions-and-answers).

Medicines made this way are not FDA-approved (September 26, 2026). Before sale, these medicines receive no FDA review of quality, of safety or of whether they work.

A medicine made to order can still be legal; the FDA says it may meet a patient’s need that an approved drug cannot meet.

BPC-157 is the name of one peptide sold online; [FDA drug records](https://api.fda.gov/drug/drugsfda.json) showed no approved US medicine containing it on September 26, 2026.

If someone offers this peptide to help you recover, ask them to name the problem being treated and explain the evidence for that choice.

A valid prescription means someone legally allowed to prescribe has ordered the medicine for you.

A prescription does not give a medicine made to order FDA approval.

An advert tells you what a service is selling; a price tells you what it charges. Ask who will check whether the exact medicine may legally be supplied to you.

“Can I talk to someone online?”

A telehealth visit might use a video call, a phone conversation or a form sent online. In-person care brings you into a room together.

For an online visit, your doctor should organize needed tests or refer you elsewhere to be examined in person, says the [Federation of State Medical Boards](https://www.fsmb.org/siteassets/advocacy/policies/fsmb-workgroup-on-telemedicineapril-2022-final.pdf).

Addressed to the state medical boards that oversee doctors, this advice is not itself a law.

For either route, ask who will assess the problem, what else they need to know and how follow-up works. Bring a list of current medicines and the questions you want answered.

The recovery cost guide

This guide helps you untangle the bill; it is neither a clinic nor a medicine shop.
